Mechanical Television Troubleshooting

Negative pictures. Your amplifier is producing the wrong phase at your display. If your transducer is a diode, you can sometimes correct this problem by inverting the diode. If you use a phototransistor, then you'll need to alter your input circuit. Switch from a common-emitter to a common-collector circuit, or vice versa. Alternately, apply the same principle to the display circuit. A third way to achieve the necessary phase shift is to add a one-transistor inverter to your preamplifier.
